What Information Do We Collect?

Any use of the Reporter House digital properties (currently existing or that may be developed in the future) owned and managed by Reporter House shall be considered as your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the Privacy Policy outlined below, please refrain from using or accessing the website or app.

A. INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY USERS

Registration Data

When you register on Reporter House for our services, we may ask you to provide basic contact information, including but not limited to your name, photo, gender, age, address, pin code, contact number, occupation, interests, and email address. If you choose to register using third-party accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, or Gmail, we will retrieve information from such accounts only with your permission. This information will be used solely to interact with you and enhance your experience on our platform. We will not share your personal data with any external party that may directly or indirectly benefit from it.

Integrated Service Providers and Linked Networks

You may choose to sign in or sign up on Reporter House through a linked network (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) or connect your existing Reporter House account with third-party networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn (each a “Linked Network”). If you opt for this, we may receive profile and account details from these Linked Networks. These Linked Networks may also be displayed in your profile to help others find you. The specific information shared with us is determined by these third-party platforms, and we recommend reviewing their privacy policies to understand their data-sharing practices. You may disconnect from a Linked Network at any time using the “Sign Out” option available in the login area, whose placement may vary across our products.

Voluntary Information

We may collect additional information from you at various times, including but not limited to when you provide feedback, change content or email preferences, respond to surveys, or communicate with us. If you apply to participate in a program related to politics, for example, we might ask about your political opinions. However, we do not share your personal data with any third parties.

Processing of Personal Data of Children and Persons with Disabilities

Reporter House complies with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act) regarding the processing of personal data of children and individuals with disabilities who have lawful guardians.

  1. Before processing personal data of a child or a person with a lawful guardian, we will obtain verifiable consent from their parent or guardian as per the DPDP Act.
  2. We do not process personal data in a way that may harm the well-being of a child.
  3. We do not engage in tracking, behavioral monitoring, or targeted advertising directed at children.
  4. Certain exemptions may apply as per the provisions prescribed under the DPDP Act.

The Central Government may exempt Data Fiduciaries from some of these obligations if it determines that their processing of children’s data is conducted safely and in compliance with legal standards.

B. INFORMATION AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED/TRACKED WHILE NAVIGATION

Cookies/Local Storage

Cookies/Local Storage are small files that a website transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser (if you allow) that enable the website’s systems to recognize your browser and remember certain information.

To improve the responsiveness of Reporter House for our users, we may use cookies, local storage, or similar electronic tools to collect information. This allows us to assign each visitor a unique, random User ID to understand individual user interests based on the identified computer. Unless you voluntarily identify yourself (such as through registration), we cannot know who you are, even if we assign a cookie to your computer. Cookies cannot read data off your hard drive. Our advertisers may also assign their own cookies/local storage to your browser (if you click on their ads), a process that we do not control. We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us through our digital properties, whether via computer, mobile, tablet, or other devices.

Your Freedom to Withdraw Consent

If you do not wish to accept cookies/local storage in connection with your use of Reporter House, you may delete, block, or disable them via your browser settings. Please consult your web browser’s help documentation for details on this process. However, disabling cookies/local storage may affect site functionality and prevent access to certain features.

Opting Out

If a user opts out using Ads Settings, the unique DoubleClick cookie ID on the user’s browser is overwritten with the phrase “OPT_OUT”. Since there is no longer a unique cookie ID, the opt-out cookie cannot be associated with a particular browser.

Log File Information

We automatically collect limited information about your device’s connection to the internet, including your IP address, when you visit Reporter House. Your IP address helps deliver requested data, such as pages you view. Additionally, we automatically log information from your browser, including your IP address, device name, operating system, browser type and version, CPU speed, and connection speed.

We use cookies, log files, pixel tags, and other tracking technologies to automatically collect information about your activities, such as searches, page views, visit date and time, and other usage information.

Clear GIFs (Web Beacons)

We may use “clear GIFs” (Web Beacons) to track user activity patterns anonymously. These do not personally identify users. Additionally, we may use clear GIFs in HTML-based emails sent to our users to track which emails are opened. This information helps us improve our site, applications, and services.

Information from Other Sources

We may receive information about you from other sources, add it to our records, and treat it per this policy. For example, if you provide information to a platform provider or partner we collaborate with, your account details and order history may be shared with us. We may also receive updated contact information from third parties to correct records and improve services.

If you mention Reporter House on social media (e.g., Twitter), we may collect your handle for reference.

Demographic and Purchase Information

We may reference third-party demographic data to provide more targeted content and promotions. We use Google Analytics to understand user behavior on Reporter House. Google Analytics helps us analyze user demographics and interests anonymously. You may opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize Google Display Network ads via Google’s Ad Settings.

Links to Third-Party Sites/Ad Servers

Occasionally, we may include or offer third-party products or services on Reporter House. We do not share personally identifiable information with third-party websites, advertisers, or ad servers without your consent. However, these sites have their own privacy policies, which are beyond our control. Once you leave our site, use of your data is subject to the privacy policy of the visited website.

When presenting data to advertisers, we do so in aggregated form to help them understand audience demographics and engagement. Third-party advertising companies may serve ads based on your visit history but do not receive personally identifiable information.

If you decline to provide personally identifiable information, we may be unable to offer certain services. However, we will notify you in such cases.

Information Sharing

We may share your information under the following circumstances:

  1. Legal Compliance: If required by law, court order, or government agency for identity verification, cybercrime investigation, or other legal reasons.
  2. Within Our Organization: We may share user data within our affiliated companies and employees to process personal information while ensuring compliance with this Privacy Policy.

How We Protect Your Information

We implement security measures to safeguard against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your data. These include internal data reviews, encryption, and secure storage on password-protected servers behind firewalls. However, no security system is entirely impenetrable. We cannot guarantee absolute data security, particularly for data transmitted over the internet.

We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit Reporter House. These companies may use anonymous information (excluding name, address, email, or phone number) about your visits to tailor relevant advertisements.

Accessing & Updating Personal Information

We strive to provide access to your personal data upon request and will correct or remove inaccurate information as needed. However, we may decline requests that are excessive, infringe on others’ privacy, or require disproportionate technical effort. Deleted data may take time to be removed from our backup systems.

If you wish to update your personal data or opt-out of certain services, you can contact us, and we will process your request as feasible.
