Farmers in Prayagraj are doing something amazing right now. They have joined a new plan from the Uttar Pradesh government that helps them make extra money just by planting trees. These are not just any trees—they are special, fast-growing ones like poplar, melia dubia, semal, eucalyptus, and neem. When these trees grow, they soak up a gas called carbon dioxide from the air, which helps keep our planet clean and healthy.

Here’s the cool part: for every ton of carbon dioxide the trees take in, the farmer gets something called a “carbon credit.” The government buys these credits from the farmers every five years, and each credit is worth about ₹500. This means farmers can get paid for helping the environment! To join, a farmer needs to sign up with the forest department and promise to plant at least 25 trees. They also have to share details about their land and make sure the trees are safe. The government even gives them the baby trees (saplings) to plant, so they don’t have to worry about getting them on their own.

This plan is already working in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, but now it’s started in Prayagraj too. The goal is to help farmers earn more money and also protect nature at the same time. Between 2024 and 2026, more than 25,000 farmers across the state are expected to get rewards worth ₹202 crore for their hard work. In the first part of the plan, farmers in places like Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Lucknow, Meerut, Moradabad, and Saharanpur are already getting paid. Now, with Prayagraj joining, even more farmers can benefit.

The farmers feel proud because they are not just earning money—they are also helping everyone breathe cleaner air and making the earth greener. Many say they are happy to be part of something so good for their families and for the world. This new way of farming is turning a simple act—planting trees—into a way to earn, care for the land, and make the future brighter for everyone.
